All turbines with variable geometry are repaired with professional TurboTechnics VTR equipment. This machine is used to calibrate the variable geometry mechanism in turbochargers. It regulates both the correct flow of exhaust gases through the variable geometry, but also precisely sets the position of the electronic sensor on the pneumatic actuator currently found in most new VNT turbochargers. Proper regeneration of turbochargers is impossible when the regenerator does not have this device.
